You say my Shepherd. The question is whether He says my sheep.

Helpful Context

Jehovah Raah: When you see LORD in all capitals, that is God’s personal name. Raah means shepherd. It is a working word: to feed, to lead, to tend, to keep.
A cast sheep: A sheep that rolls onto its back and cannot get up, usually because its wool is too heavy. Left alone, it dies. The shepherd has to come turn it over.
Rod and staff: The staff is the crook that pulls a drifting sheep back. The rod is a club the shepherd uses on whatever comes after the flock. One corrects. One fights. David calls both comfort.
Oil on the head: Shepherds put oil on a sheep’s head to keep pests off.
